Magnetic
Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging technique
combining a powerful magnetic field with computer technology
to produce detailed images of your body’s soft tissue.
During an MRI exam, atoms in our body respond to magnetic
fields created by an MRI scanner. These atomic responses produce
highly-detailed computer representations of internal organs,
muscles, connective tissue, and the central nervous system.
MRI exams are noninvasive, except in cases where contrast
agents are used.
Elite Imaging also performs Magnetic Resonance Angiography
(MRA) exams, which use MRI technology to produce detailed
images of blood vessels. These images assist in detecting,
diagnosing and treating heart disorders, strokes, and blood
vessel diseases.
At Elite Imaging, we use state-of-the-art MRI scanners to
generate razor-sharp images. In addition to operating South
Florida’s most powerful MRI magnet, the MAGNETOM Trio
3-Tesla high-field MRI scanner, we perform open MRI exams
at both of our locations. Like traditional MRI, open MRI technology
uses a magnetic field to produce images of internal body structures.
However, open MRI systems enable individuals to be examined
without the fear of claustrophobia, which is often associated
with traditional MRI. Open MRI is also ideal for pediatric
and elderly patients.
