Because
CT and PET technology each present medical limitations, hybrid
PET/CT exams are often performed, eliminating the need for
separate scans. The images produced by these exams enable
radiologists and physicians to view the way bodily structures
look and behave; the CT images provide physical landmarks
for precisely locating the PET scan’s findings.
In a hybrid exam, PET and CT scans are performed during a
single session. When the resulting images are combined, they
form a single image showing metabolic activity in relation
to the body’s anatomy.
Elite Imaging recently launched its Siemens BIOGRAPH 16, South
Florida’s first 16 slice PET/CT system in an outpatient
setting.
